The Oyster system of both the models is fixed in an air-tight case which protects the perpetual movement from water and other particles. And the similarity in both the watches is that both of them, the Datejust and the Datejust II feature the iconic Oyster case. One of the significant features which differentiate between the Rolex Datejust and the Rolex Datejust II is the movement of the models, that is, the Datejust II is equipped with the chronometer-certified caliber 3136 movements. This line of watches came with the iconic Datejust with a more streamlined and modern design and had some new innovations. Later in 2009, Rolex introduced the Rolex Datejust II. The Datejust is one of those models which can just appeal all the watch enthusiasts, no matter their tastes, because of the sheer variety that it is available in. The Rolex Datejust of this type has been given the nickname of "Thunderbirds". The watch featured a rotating bezel which was marked to 60 minutes that was used to measure the time intervals. The Turn-O-Graph model of this Datejust was introduced in 1955, and it was the award given to the US Air Force pilots who were returning from combat missions. Although later on the collection had an added on with the introduction of the ladies' and mid-sized versions. The Rolex Datejust watch model was offered with two classic Rolex bracelets, one in the Jubilee bracelet and the other one, in the Oyster. In 1955, a magnifying Cyclops lens was added in order to magnify the date by two and a half times, which in the later years became one of Rolex’s defining features. Over the years, the Rolex Datejust movement went through subtle alterations which were made to improve its features and it came in an expansion of design options. Now the Rolex jubilee bracelet which was specially designed for the occasion was made with a 5-piece metal link bracelet. And it was, of course, featuring the Rolex Oyster waterproof case, a fluted bezel, and the new Jubilee bracelet (which was perfectly named for the occasion) and it measured 36mm in diameter. 4467 and it was available only in 18 karats yellow gold and had a small bubble back winder with a deeply domed back. The original gold Rolex Datejust was introduced with the ref.

So this is the reason that the Rolex Datejust has become an indispensable part of the Rolex’s line up. And want to know what is so special about this watch? Well, the Rolex Datejust was the very first self-winding wristwatch which displayed the date on the dial and had an automatically changing date function.

And this is considered to be one of the most special watches, as it was introduced by Rolex in 1945, the year the brand celebrated its 40th anniversary. Similar is in the case with its Datejust model, The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust is a certified, self-winding chronometer wristwatch.
